Description

Visit two Mayan archaeological sites in the Lacandon Jungle

Ideal for: Families, Couples, Adults, Children.

Start this adventure through the Lacandon Jungle in the Mexican state of Chiapas with the first rays of the sun, when a comfortable van will pick you up at your hotel. Enjoy the ride to Yaxchilan Archaeological Site, at the banks of the Usumacinta River. Yaxchilan was a very important city during the Mayan classical period and dominated a wide territory on both sides of the river. The site has a main plaza connected to the Central, South and West Acropolis through pathways in the jungle. The stairway in the Central Acropolis is one of the most emblematic constructions with several sculptures carved in stone that depict the history of the city. See the building known as the Labyrinth, named after its several rooms linked by interior stairways. Board a boat to take a trip through the Usumacinta River while you learn about the Mayan civilization. Continue to Bonampak Archaeological Site, about 30 kilometers (19 mi) from Yaxchilan, famous for the murals of the kings that ruled the city during the Classical Period and some of the Mayan rituals. Ecoexperiencias Mexico is a company from Chiapas that seeks to promote tourism in the Mexican southeast through experiences surrounded by nature, mysticism, and harmony with our millenary ancestors. Nowadays, the company has offices in Southeast Asia, China, and Spain.
